Dew Control

Was just wondering as I was wiping everything down last night ( ), how people control dew on their eyepieces?

I have an 8" Newt, so dew in the tube is not so much of an issue - I was thinking about a mod to a project Astroman had suggested for dew caps......

Hi Daz,

I use the Kendrick dew system. There's four ports on the controller. At the moment keep the corrector plate clear and another keeps the eyepiece i'm using clear. I hold another eyepiece in my hand, which keeps that one clear. The eyepieces in the case dew up the second i open the lid. Have to plan ahead and make sure i'm holding the one i think i'll need.

I do need a third heater band for the finderscope. Trouble is you need a monster powerstation to run a big dew system.

I was thinking about using some resistance wire round the EP in a heat-proof sleeve, just enough to generate about 5 watts.....

I normally keep the one that I want sitting in my inside pocket of my jacket.

I was hoping to make a multi-functional device that would fit the EP's and my camera lens as well.

Possibly using some high-tec elastic band or velcro arrangement!

That works for me, I tend to pick out the 4 0r 5 Ep's I'm going to use and stick one in each pocket. Low tech, but effective!

I do the same as Gaz, but i have placed a small cardboard box under my laptop in winter with the EP'S in, this keep's em warm enough to stop dew forming..
