10" meade lx10 worth buying?

im down visiting my parents in cornwall and just found a 10" lx10 for sale in thier local camera shop.

they are asking £450 for it on a tripod and just wondering if it was worth buying?

They didn`t do a 10" LX10 only an 8". I had one, actually a very good scope. Same optics as the LX200 just no GOTO....

Check out the aperture...

These older Lx's still have a lot of good life; the OTA can always be transferred to a new GEM mount...

I have a 12" Lx200 Classic 1999 vintage and still going strong!

I have the 8" LX10

Its a great scope. not sure at £450 though id say £350

I suspect it is an 8 inch? Useful visual scope but with no deep sky imaging potential.

well i decided not to get it in the end, he obviously didnt know what it was as he was selling it as a 10" lx10.

I wouldn't hold it against him, i've seen loads of people comment they owned a 10" SCT because they had an LX10.

The price was a bit steep though, as Earl says, £350 is about right for an LX10 or LX50 8".

I used to have one and my mate still does. Very quick set up, I'm still putting weights on while he's observing. I think I sold mine for that with some nice accessories so would agree with £350. I've heard a few people looking for them because they are simple scopes to use.
