Pluto- the planet (2006)

This is a two frame animation. The first image was taken on July 13th and the other was taken on July 15th, 2006 to reveal motion against the background stars. This was only a month or so before Pluto was deemed to Not be a true planet.

I took this with an LX-90 (8") and a Canon XT-DSLR. Of all the astro-images I have taken, this one excited me more than any of the others...As a youngster, I remember Pluto as a mysterious frozen rock at the end of the solar system.

Nice one Doug, thats a fine example of pluto moving in space. I can see why that would bring mysteriouse pluto to life in your home as a youngster

In my house, Pluto will ALWAYS be a planet. Amazing image. I'm really taken aback by the size of it in the image. Its HUGE.
