Canon 1000D Liveview Crosshair

Does anyone know if its possible to get a centre cross on the liveview viewer when you use the Canon control s/w? You can select the 3x3 grid, but you still have to estimate when the star is in the middle.

I zoom the liveview to 10x and get roughly in the middle. It's been pretty much spot on everytime so far, planting my target darn close to the centre of the FOV after a goto slew. As for getting a crosshair, I've not seen anything.

I use the center focus point as a red-dot ...

Press the focus point selector to illuminate it if your looking through the viewfinder and then watch as the target star gets slightly obscured by it...

I find I have to use rotation option to get the reticle to center after a resize... so just toggle it one click either way afetr a resize and its fine...

The latest V2.1 that Al has done for me allows you to move a double cross wire to align a spectroscope slit with a guide target star. Works very well!!

Al is an active member of the spectroscopy group and has done some excellent work!

The attched screen dump shows the cross wire overlay; it can be enlarged to fit exactly the PHD screen ( you can still use the original PHD bullseye reticle etc underneath) so you can position a target star in X-Y pixel against the crosswire.....

Version V2.1 is a single moveable crosswire.

I do the same with my 450D. I zoom in to 10X and centre my target as best i can. It works great.
