Re-use and recycle - Red light torch modification

Hi all

this is an obvious one really but might be useful. I have a decent LED torch which I use for a number of things and the batteries seem to last longer in this than any other torch I have used. So, I don't really want to make a permanent modification like painting the lens with red nail varnish etc.

I always try to be 'environmentally' friendly and it struck me today that the cap off a coke bottle is just the right sort of thickness of plastic, size and shape and colour to use as a 'diffuser'.

Lo and behold it fitted snugly onto the lens and works a treat.

This could equally apply to the red skimmed milk bottle tops etc.

see below for pics.

cheers!

Shane

That's cool. The fact that you can recycle a bit of plastic that takes about 10,000 yrs to biodegrade is brilliant.

That fits so snug on the torch it almost looks like it was designed for the torch. Does the white ink writing not show up on star charts etc?

I'm sure you could scratch it off.

Wel done to you for discovering yet another way to create a red light torch.
