Can something be done with this

Testing my barn door mount tonight.

I took a 5 minute exposure with my Nikon 5400 of an area

around Lyra.

Very pleased with the results of the tracking but the image has as usual

suffered from LP.

There seems to be a hint of the milky way in it though.

Anybody fancy working some magic on this one?

Tell you what, I'm chuffed with the old barn door mount.

It tracked well for a 5 minute image 8)

My Nikon will go for a maximum of 10 minute exposure so

I'll try that next.

It is also evident in CC's edit. It is quite difficult to remove all the colour cast without also losing some of the Milky Way.

Hi Phil,

Also had a play with the Image.

If you have Photoshop CS you can use the Highlight/Shadow to great effect, i took Steve's edit and loaded it into PS CS and played with the H and S option this brought out more of the Milky Way. Then went into the Select Colour and picked Black and made the Black stand out more by using the Slider and moving it all the way to the right.

Didnt go for a clean image look but just to show theres a lot of info in the image as you can see by the amount of Milkyway Present.

Nice image and great too see the Barndoor Tracker Tracking well.

This is really interesting stuff.

My skies maybe bad but I know I can get to see things

through imaging and tweaking.

I use Elements 4 and that has a shadow/highlights control

so I should be able to use your tips. Theres a lot more in

that image than I first thought. 8)

Next step is to find a more secure way to put my Baader contrast booster

filter in front of the camera lens (that filter kills a lot of LP) and then on

a good night, go for some 10 minute exposures to stack.

What is cool is how well the coat hanger stands out in the edited images
