New member - long time observer

Hello from a "soon to be snowy" Daventry.

Over the years I have done quite a range of astronomical projects without really becoming an expert in any of them!

I have discovered an asteroid (2009 SP18), some variable stars (AAVSO: Electronic Journal of the AAVSO (eJAAVSO)) and some binary stars (Martin Piers Nicholson's Astronomical Projects). I owned at 12" Meade LX200 for a few years but light pollution in Daventry increased to the point where most of the fun had gone from the hobby. I then switched over to remote observing via scopes in New Mexico, California and Australia.

I have given a few talks to astro groups - most recently at the joint BAA/AAVSO meeting in Cambridge - but I have never tried to become a regular on the conference circuit.
