Two large solar flares in past 24 hrs - possible geomagnetic unrest on the way again.

My second viewing session was more fruitful, due to slightly thinner cloud for a while. Reds, pinks and greens began to show through - to the eye - beautiful!

I may be able to create a nice, if short, timelapse, showing the cloud moving across the colourful aurora.

Regards, Mike.

Just in from second spell, the sky has cleared up now and aurorae across the northern half of the sky. I'd say nearly as good as May, but not as extensive at the moment.

All with smartphone, stock camera app:

Looking NE, Taurus, Jupiter, Pleiades:

Cleared up nicely for my 3rd spell out, though the aurora was now mostly diffuse green and red, with no structure.

Later, a more vivid red appeared, visible to the eye, along with some rays, but unfortunately this was just as it was clouding up again. Back in for a warm up, but will be out again soon 😀.

Oh my....  That was an incredible display for the last 30 mins or so...  Better than back in May!!!  Naked eye all the colours and massive swirls of light

Just seen this:

Yes. Absolutely magnificent display. Head and shoulders above the May storm!

Thick cloud now, so likely to be out of action for a while at least. No doubt I’ve missed a lot due to the cloud, but I haven’t yet seen the details that were visible back in May, so, for me that display was better so far.

Regards, Mike.
