NGC 7822 is a star forming region in the constellation of Cepheus about 3000 light years away. The image below shows a close up of the various cold molecular pillars (aka Elephant Trunks) which have a variety of sizes and shapes.  These consist of gas and dust some of which is ionised by intense UV radiation from nearby stars.

The narrowband bi-colour image below was taken with my Esprit 150 and represents 17.5 hours integration time.

LIGHTS: 16 Ha, 19 OIII x 1800s all at -20C.
