Hello from DFW area of Texas

Just joined and I am looking at resurrecting an old Celestron Ultima 2000 providing I can get the corrector plate clean. It was a garage sale find years ago and I am finally getting around to digging into it and there are better resources these days than 20 years ago.

My main purpose is for lunar photography with my DSLR  at the moment assuming I can sufficiently clean it up. Maybe then I can look at upgrading to something better for the purpose.

Welcome to SGL! and best of luck resurrecting the Ultima 2000, I always liked the esthetics of that model, have never used one, though.

A good spot would be the DIY Astronomer forum. It’s where we all post about telescope repair, restoration, making parts and such.
