  1. Thanks. I spent 5 hours on it today. I need to figure out which sub forum to post about progress and show photos of the beginning and results so far.
  2. I will keep that bit of knowledge tucked away for the upcoming eclipse.
  3. Thats why I am starting to work on it now. As a note, that image is pretty heavily cropped. Hopefully I resurrect an old Ultima 2000 by then.
  4. My impetus for joining this forum is related to this image here. This was taken with my Nikon D810 with a 200-500mm lens. It was one of several I took that night trying to see what I could do when the plane flew across the face of the moon. It has re-ignited my interest in astrophotography hence my recent joining. Based on my experience this year with macrophotography, I just need to practice and maybe I can justify a decent telescope and related gear.
  5. Just joined and I am looking at resurrecting an old Celestron Ultima 2000 providing I can get the corrector plate clean. It was a garage sale find years ago and I am finally getting around to digging into it and there are better resources these days than 20 years ago. My main purpose is for lunar photography with my DSLR at the moment assuming I can sufficiently clean it up. Maybe then I can look at upgrading to something better for the purpose.
