Afocal Saturn

Here is another attempt at capturing Saturn "Afocally" with my Canon A570is digicamera. Camera settings were Shutter Speed 3.2 seconds. ISO 80. (+ 2 Exposure Compensation) Focus set at Infinity. Image was sharpened using basic "Picasa" program. Scope used was Celestron C8 SCT. Eyepiece Celestron 18mm Orthoscopic. Camera was zoomed to 4x.

"seeing" wasn't that clear - a bit of a mistiness set in towards 11.00pm. Night was very mild up here in Connah's Quay, North Wales.

Haven't quite got the focusing right yet.

Regards,

Thanks for your kind comments gentlemen.

Yes Nick, I use a camera bracket identical to the one FLO sells.

And set the cameras shutter to a customised three second delay to allow things to steady up. (I have a remote shutter button attachment, which attaches to the digicamera body, but I find the shutter delay more convenient).
