bish
Hello all, Could anybody recommend a good moon map app? My main interest is DSOs but I live in a light polluted area and do quite enjoy looking at the moon. I've got a paper map but could do with something that shows the terminator as well as crater names as it is that night . I used to have one but don't remember which one Thanks

IB20
Not an app but NASA has a lunar SVS map, just enter the time and date you want, update then click on the moon image to get a high resolution map with terminator and main feature labels. https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/5048

Joef
I use the Moon Globe App, simple to use, and informative., AND it's free. Edited March 7, 2023 by Joef Finger Problem
jjohnson3803
Virtual Moon (link above) has an ephemeris tab that you can set the terminator to specific time and you can turn the terminator off. Quite handy for planning and identifying features. I use Moon Chart by Astro Visuals on my iPhone, but it obviously can't show as much detail as VM. The red dot is Clavius, the terminator is as of about noon US Central Time. There's a sidebar you can set to show crater info, etc. Edited March 15, 2023 by jjohnson3803
Stu
If you have an iPhone, Moon Phase Photo maps is good at showing the names of the craters along the terminator. Also available at https://www.derekscope.co.uk/the-moon/ 1

And I just bought a copy of the "Atlas of the Lunar Terminator" for an inflated IMO amount...
