Rising Emu from NZ

Recommended Posts

Another widefield from NZ, this time of the Milky Way below Crux & the Coalsack (top). The Australian aborigines thought these dark areas represented a celestial emu with the Coalsack as the head and the long neck etc below. Once you make the connection visually it's hard to see it as anything else!

A streaky stack of 8x120sec iso1600 for this one.

The area below this joins up with the Scorpius/Sagittarius region and was awesome at about 2.30 a.m.

What a nice though. Those light polluted free skies, where shapes could be seen in the Milky Way. Were lucky if we see the faint Glow in the Northern Hemisphere. Unless we travel miles to a dark site.

Anyway, another splendid Widefield Image Mark. You might do the Double POTW.:)
