Blinking heck Neil thats alot of cloud detail you have captured there. It's amazing especially with the difficulty venus presents at the moment. The new filter? and your persistance as certainly paid off for you. Very well done👍

It looks great and some nice clouds are coming through; i see you are using a new filter, do you think that made the difference over previous attempts?

Venus has got bigger since using UG1 and BG39 so no comparison. But the Bessel U filter is better. And better suited. So likely its helping more Kon. The Johnson Bessel U is more suited in situations where for example you do not want to remove the AR  window on the ZWO 178MM Camera or if using a barlow. Or ZWO ADC ( which i will use when i image with the Orion ) The Bessel u transmission is more suited in those circumstances to even the Astrodon Venus filter. Because of UV being absorbed or blocked in those situations. No AR protect window or barlow being used. and a UV friendly ADC would mean the Astrodon venus filter would be a better choice

Hi Martyn Thanks. My primary was completely dewed over. Even with dew shield. so i suspect it could have been better. might be time to break out the bigger gun.

Not bad!

Venus doesn't even manage to clear the obstructions in front of my obs at the moment. My expensive U filter ain't much use right now!

I am finding it really quite difficult this year. But stubbornly will not give up until too late. Still hoping to do better we shall see. Yes the astrodon or Baader U is no use if the planet is hidden.

Cheers Lukebl

Thank you very much for the detailed description of the filters. Very useful information.

Pretty decent again Neil,  definitely some cloud details visible.

Funny you mention the dewing problem, it was horrendous on Saturday morning for me. I thought the heated dew sheild had stopped working, it was so bad! It really caught me out this time, I was horrified when I saw the dew. I have been imaging for probably an hour like it.
