Insane. I thought this was one of the least offensive hobbies out there and cant really think of any reason why someone would act like this...

Some anti-science folks perhaps? Or just good old traditional crazy.

What a bizarre and alarming incident.  Strangely not the first  telescope to be attacked though.

I read about this, a few months ago. Seems it caused less than 0.5% decrease in light gathering.

Just wishing you and your partner all the best. Sorry to hear that someone intruded on your life like that. Hard to comprehend the lack of comfort in ones self that was shown by that person. They really have some life adjustments to make. You just need to continue being you
