Aurora last night

Still struggling with colour and 'brightness' on the video.

Using the excellent Allskeye software to capture png files at 30 sec intervals with 20 second pause.

Could do with raising the box higher to see over the ridge! Or ask the farmer to nicely remove it!!!!

It's said to be a rare event to see the lights in the UK with naked eye, especially for us oldies - last time we saw them with the eye was in 2000. Besides this slice from the night's images starts after midnight - slumberland for me

I've seen several naked eye aurora from the UK over the last 60 y ears so yes, a fairly rare event.  I have seen one as far South as Bedford and two "World class" ones from the NW 20 miles S and similar N of Manchester, rainbow intensity, casting shadows and bright enough to read by.  The last one was 2002 or 2004?  my memory is not that accurate anymore!       🙂

Yes, amazing to see!

My only opportunity in Florida will be with the next Carrington event. But we will all be in Bortle 1 skies then! 😆
