Nova in Vulpecula

This 12th mag transient just been reported:

Amplitude is 9 mags.

No confirmation yet, but could be nova given its position.

Will post if further info emerges over next few hours.

From the spectroscopy certainly looks like a nova. Have we confirmation yet as to whether it's brightening or fading?

Yes it’s definitely a nova. It’s only just been detected and so far few obs. Likely at or near max. Keep an eye on those BAA Forum and CBAT links for latest news.

Field of View is 76'x50' arc

I had it at mag 13.0 last evening (V filter), so it’s already beginning to fade

It’s taken me about an hour but I think I’ve seen this Nova. Using the chart from @JeremyS and @Wyvern’s excellent image I tracked it down. I’ve marked the location that I believe I saw it on the SkySafari screenshot below. It looks a little dimmer than the nearby mag 12.5 stars so I’m guess it’s somewhere between 12.5 and 13. Fingers crossed I matched up everything up correctly!

The nova's brightness seems to have settled down. I've at is about mag 12.9 to 13.0 the last 3 evenings.

A bit brighter last night.

~0.25 mag brighter on Jul 20 (mag 12.6) compared to 24 h earlier. BAA light curve, still very early days for this eruption:

It does indeed continue! I had not been paying attention,,  AAVSO now has it in the region of mag 10.5, 
which should be just about in range of my fixed camera+lens stacks.
