7170
I revisited V1405 Cas this evening and measured it at Mag 9.6 (ASTAP). This is pretty close to other measurements on AAVSO today. A quick look at the light curve shows that it is continuing to dim (a trend since the start of Nov'21). 2
JeremyS
Post 501 of this thread and here is the complete light curve of V1405 Cas from its discovery on March 18 until today. What a fascinating nova! Still worth following 3
7170
Yesterday was clear (despite the forecast saying otherwise) and I managed to snap V1405 Cas again. Measured at Mag 9.4, so ever so slightly brighter than my last measurement.
Captain Scarlet
I was out last night 2nd Jan with my bins FINALLY after weeks of total cloud. I could not detect it hand-held in windy conditions with my 8x42s but I could with my 15x56s. I haven’t looked at this for a while, the last time was a couple of months ago at least, when it was a much easier target. Magnus
JeremyS
This nova is still being observed and still relatively bright at 11th mag. Worth following. What will it do next? BAA VSS light curve:
Captain Scarlet
Indeed. I looked for it just the other day and found it still there to my surprise. I should’ve mentioned it.
Stu
Amazing that it is still hanging in there, had forgotten about it being a potential target. Will have a look sometime soon.
