Video Software Thoughts

I'm thinking of putting together a short video + suitable music to present some of my astro images (mostly deep sky) to the family and anybody else that's interested.

Can anyone recommend any suitable software that could be used for this purpose - preferably free/cheap and most importantly, easy to use?

I don't expect to use this too often but thought it would make a nice show for the family - subject to covid get-together rules!

I've used shotcut

in the past , but I was editing video from an action cam with a waterproof housing ( film from a boating adventure) so had no sound to edit and didn't add any, so I don't know how easy that is . I'm sure you can do it though

What I liked about shotcut, was it had good reviews , is open source and from a .org, and, of  course, it is the ideal price : free.

There may be newer, better offerings out there but if I had a similar task to  do I'd use shotcut again.

Just double checked to make sure shotcut can deal with a sequence of timed still frames (I only used a couple as titles ) and found this :

Not sure about other operating systems but if you have Windows 10, you should already have one that isn't too bad. 

Click Start and search for "Video Editor". 👍

There's iMovie on MacOS that's freely available too, though I've never used it myself.

A very compressive and possibly more than you are looking for, mac/windows/linux and free;   DaVinci Resolve

Near the bottom of the page for downloads,  runs on my i5 laptop, had to add a card to my i5 desktop........

+1 for "shortcut" fairly intuitive although have only used it to edit MOV files from my Canon and save them in a format for use on this site..
