Martian dust storm

Just sat in obsy watching what appears to be a Martian dust storm....

Probably should have posted this in the observing section... But I did see it first on the screen while taking a few captures....

Probably is a dust storm, think someone mentioned it a few days ago.

Hi, I took some RGB image's last night too. I did notice something odd, particularly in the blue filter on screen.

I noticed a brighter patch in the blue channel too .... thought I think it might be Mt Olympus looking at a map

Yep, I had the same too.

could have been a spell of very localised bad seeing. Weather systems are fast moving here at the moment.

I think it was localised weather pattern on Mars, didn't appear to be anywhere else on the planet, probably localised around Olympus Mons. As it's one of the highest points around that region that would suggest cloud.

It certainly was localised on mars. I have a sequence of it tracking across the planets surface

1. quick rubbish image, not from the RGB I took but a quick process from my Zwo Asi 224mc. Can just make out the disturbance,

That looks to be the orographic cloud over Arsia Mons, the southern most of the three Tharsis volcanoes

I'd agree, it corresponds with where Arsis Mons is according to the image from sky Safari.

Hi, you can see the cloud formation more clearly here in my RGB image around Arsia Mons.

Superb image, the position mirrors my visual observation. It certainly seemed to be short lived. I couldn't see it at 2am but local seeing was pretty poor.
