Sky Safari is probably one of the best. Loads of information and easy to use.

Would the cheaper one be ok ..I don’t want it to control the scope just to view the stars so I can spit what I’m looking for

Should be...

Stellarium is a free download and I think the basic version of Sky Safari is too.

A quick look on google play should give you an idea of the best one for you.

Try skyportal - it's celestron's packaged version of skysafari and it's Free!

Here's a chart comparing the features of all editions. They differ primarily in database size (object count), but some advanced features are avaiable only in Plus or Pro.

Interestingly, the basic edition is free on Android but paid for iPhone...
