First attempt at Orion Nebula

pictured this Orion Nebula last night, sadly i’m not able to use the different filters i have as my rpi4 isn’t compatible with the EFK2. First half decent image since owning the setup. Think their maybe a tracking issue from the little squiggles on the image. Any pointers on stacking and processing etc would be much appreciated.

Lovely image, even in mono.  The squiggles are hot pixels.  Try using the Sigma clipping when stacking at they may disappear.

Thank you, i’m not sure what the sigma is but i’ll keep my eye out for it in dss

I copied in from google (.  I dont use DSS but this is where you choose it

Nice sharp image. You could also take some calibration frames to get rid of the hot pixels, i.e. dark frames.

Very good indeed for a first attempt, nicely framed and focussed.

As indicated by the previous posters, Sigma clipping or taking dark frames and then using these to calibrate your image in DSS should get rid of the hot pixels.

Nice mono image! Which software are you running on the RPi4 that is not compatible?

Thanks guys, i’m using Stellarmate but cant get the efk2 filter wheel or hightech astro auto focuser working.  I’ve just installed everything on a computer now and hope to go on to that.

I emailed stellarmate and they said its a driver problem
