First attempt at M27 Dumbbel Nebula

Since I had a clear night here last night I took the opportunity to get the telescope out in the garden and see what DSOs I could find and practice my astrophotography skills (or lack of, I'm only a beginner). I managed to find the Dumbbell Nebula M27 rather easily and thought this would be a good one to have a go at. The images below are the result 20 x 15s exposures, with 20 darks and 20 bias, taken with my Canon 2000d through a 10-inch dobsonian. Each image I generated with the same files using DSS but processed differently with the red/blue/green graphs after stacking with some final adjustments in GIMP.

They look good to me considering my beginners status, would be nice to know what you pros think.

Thanks! At least I know I am starting to do something right! It was a bit frustrating at first trying to figure out what I need to do but I'm starting to get the hang of it. Looking forward to capturing some different objects and will try getting more subs.

That’s a great start! Object found, nicely framed and  focussed, and good subs captured.

My first digital image capture was of M27, it wasn’t half as good as yours.👍

Thanks, I'm glad you like them!
