Hi,

Just realized why my 130P-DS's primary wouldn't align unless the cell was tilted by about 1 cm. One of the locking tabs had slipped right off. And I never noticed or realized the issue for 5 months. :D

Well at least I can collimate now....

Uh oh, that must have been confusing until you worked it out!

It was! I finally decided that it was mechanically impossible for a telescope to be as poorly collimated as mine unless there was some issue with the cells.

Presumably one of the locking tabs must have slipped when I was replacing the cell after putting in flocking. In theory, the telescope was actually collimated for the last 5 months, but it's likely that the loose mirror would have shifted about as the scope moved. I tried relaxing all the bolts and then re-collimating, and it seems to have worked out fine. :)

Good thing you don't have a full Irish:

Bacon, sausage, egg, tomato, mushroom, baked beans, black pudding, white pudding, hash brown.

Try making a word with those letters. Ha this is like Countdown.

Hmm...

Here's an easy excuse! :D

In all seriousness, though, I wonder how many people actually have this issue with their primary without realizing what it is. To be honest the mirror clips look rather small, and their tightening/loosening behaviours are very odd. I have heard of folks cutting down mirror clips, I wouldn't like to try that with the PDS. I'm going to have to keep an eye on them to make sure this doesn't happen again. @SilverAstro Yes I do still have that eye! ;) #modding :D

Probably with the larger variants of the line the clips are a bit more substantial.
