Continuing my journey of trying to image with the 10" Thomas Cooke refractor, built in 1860, at the Marlborough College Blackett Observatory, today I turned my attention to the Sun. The observatory has a Daystar University Hydrogen Alpha filter, so I put that on the scope and let it warm up. I was rather impressed with the results!

First up, a combo of disk and limb with prominence:

I then looked around the disk for AR 2708 - not sure if this is really it, but it might be!

I'm very happy with the way the first session went and look forward to further opportunities soon.
