Moonfest

That's right ladies and gentlebeans, all of your Lunar needs here. I had a lot of clear yesterday and got some nice daytime shots, some in the evening, barlow shots and a conjunction too. Happy happy days.

First an afternoon moon, playing around with filters for contrast. This affects the colour but I think I still like it:

Then a close up of the southern highlands with barlow.

Next I had the kids little 70mm Bresser frac out after midnight for the Moon/Jove conjunction. While it was there I grabbed 100 frames to stack. It's not bad, seems well corrected for a cheap plastic tube.

Clouds came in before the Moon and Jove were close enough to fit in the same FOV fully but this'll do. Single frame.

Some annotations and an aerial view.

Now don't get me started on that old chestnut :icon_biggrin::icon_biggrin:

That's why I said it :) but don't worry once the mortgage is settled I'll be splurging on some deep sky imaging gear I'm sure!

Great set John. How do you do the annotations?

The lunar terminator visualisation tool David. Calibrate the image with two 'registration' points and it takes care of the rest. See:

Thanks Steve. I love the moon in daylight. Even without filters you can get a lot of detail as in the Barlow shot. Don't know why all you deep sky boys and girls bother there's so much to see closer to home. :)

Now that is a lot of info--well put together, like an encyclopedia.  Regarding the deep sky stuff--Some of us are afflicted with the wander lust--kind of like Crocodile Dundee and his "walk-a-bouts".  I once met a man who had never left the hamlet of West Fleetham :earth:

Thanks Rodd, that's kind of what I'm doing with my lunar imaging, a reference for my observing so you've hit the nail on the head.

I love wandering the deep sky stuff myself mate but mainly visual at the moment, my time will come though. I was just winding Steve up :) I can't imagine an entire life lived in West Fleetham though.
