eos clip filter, how to install

Hi everyone. A bit dumb I'm afraid, but if anyone could give me guidelines...

1. How do I fit the filter? It seems that the straight bits go top and bottom along the long edges of the rectangle in the camera throat, but it doesn't seem a positive fit. I was expecting a clik or other indication. Push, pull, turn, wiggle???

2. How does the filter affect spacing in the optical train, in particular a cc? I have 53.5mm without. What will it be with the filter?

I may be wrong but I did not think that a clip in filter make much difference to the spacing in the train as it will not add any extra distance due to it sitting inside the camera body.

Hi. I'm hoping not. The filter is very thin. This post is what set me thinking...

Sure that is a filter that screws into the train so will make a difference but the clip in filters to not add any extra distance.

The only spacing issue with clip in filters is that most EF-S lenses wont fit but they are fine with scopes etc.

I believe the glass is 1mm thick so any difference in spacing would only be 1/3 of this.

Never had any problems with a clip filter fitted, don't worry about it.
