Bright Meteor

Driving home from the Bristol Astro Soc meeting last night ( 25th Nov ) saw a bright meteor through the windscreen. Must have been -6 ish, much brighter than Venus at max. Time about 21:50 approx due south and vertical from my perspective. Unfortunately it is not easy to do a decent observation whilst driving on the motorway:happy6:

That was a good one to catch Nigel, well done. I was out with the dogs at about 7.40pmm last night and we live in a fairly dark spot with no street lights. A couple of times I stopped, turned my head torch off and gazed up, much to the puzzlement of the dogs I reckon. I saw a flash of what I initially assumed must be a meteor south easti-sh  (Pisces?) running 2 o'clock to 8' oclock  kind of angle, but then dismissed it as maybe a reflection from the frame of my specs' (it happens) but then a minute later saw another, not quite so bright. Neither were remotely as bright as -6 but something must have been happening up there.

Hello Nigel,

you should report your observation to the Armagh Observatory Fireball page: http://arpc65.arm.ac.uk/fireballs/index.html

I realise it won't be very precise, given that you were driving, but it's still worth doing. When I looked just now at the fireball reports (http://arpc65.arm.ac.uk/cgi-bin/fireballs/last10.pl), there were no other reports from last night.
