Counterweights

You can balance using both methods. I have a shorter bar with two weights for my RC rather than a single heavier weight further away.

I don't know the 'physics' answer - but there's bound to be one!

It's a bit of a compromise really. If the mount is capable of taking the extra weight, 2 weights closer up is probably better. One weight further out could introduce minor vibration but at least you have only to carry one weight.  :icon_biggrin:

I think the physics, well mechanics, says 2 closer in. It is the angular momentum that I think is the cause for this. It is easier to get the close in option moving then the extended weight option. It is the get moving or slowing down aspect that is the major strain on the motors, so it is acceleration and deceleration not just the maintaining a speed.
