darthvader
I was observing a few objects in Canes Venatici with help from the 'Turn Left at Orion' book and noticed that the description of 2 CVn appears to be wrong (or I am colourblind). The book on pg 113 states that 2 CVn (blue) has a yellow 9th mag companion 11" to the E. I think this is the wrong way round and the 9th mag companion is blue and 2 CVn is yellow. chiltonstar
In her book, Sissy Haas quotes CVn A as brick red, and CVn B as silvery sapphire (I think I remember the primary as red with my ED80, but saw the secondary as lilac.) (Note - The colours appear to vary with observer & scope, but the primary star is Type F2V, the secondary A0; this implies that the primary should always be redder than the secondary.) lunator
I agree with Chris, this is one of those pairs that seem to vary. I was them as orange and yellow. I will have another look soon. Cheers Ian
cotterless45
I've found that you usually get more colour with smaller aperture. Try sticking the end cap on and removing the small cap, make sure this is opposite the focuser, Nick.

laudropb
I noted them as orange/red and yellow. Colours really do seem to be very subjective.
