First Milky way image... Arrrrgh!

Recommended Posts

Here is my first milky way image, including Heart and Soul top central, two clusters beneath and M31 at the bottom.

89 X 6sec, iso 1600, F4, 24mm focal length, inc, bias and darks. Flats were rubbish so used DBE after first stretch. Canon 100d and 18-85 canon zoom lens.

I can't process and get a decent image I like, I don't know if processing these images is different from DSO's with a scope, which is what I'm more used to?  Also, the moon was up and bright, so that may affect what I can do with it. Any suggestions most welcome!

TIM, stop the lens down  little further. f.6.5 and use 20 sec subs. your image will be alot cleaner.

i used the same lens last night at 20MM at f6 and the stars looked acceptable on the edges.

the moon at this FL will deffo no be doing your images any favors either
