The Sun - 29th December 2015

Really is the 29th today

We had Sun and lots of it today  Unfortunately the low angle means that I still only get about an hour of usable observing / imaging time. However today I was waiting for it

White lights are a bit uneven, shot whilst there were still some trees interfering but I wanted to use the main clear bit to do some Ca-K.

Then came the Ca-K. Not expecting too much I shot a two pane mosaic just as the Sun cleared the tree line. The wind was starting to pick up but I embarked on a 6 pane mosaic capture more in hope than in anticipation. Patiently (not like me at all  ) I waited for the wind to drop before shooting each pane. Seems to have paid off....

Lastly and just before the Sun hit the trees again I shot a few panes through the PST. I did not get a full disk and the last pane would not stack (I think because the trees had started to encroach on the frame again) so ended up with a bit of an uneven noisy slice of H Alpha Sun. Better than what I have had of late - sweet :lipsrsealed:

I feel refreshed now after a month with no Sun to speak of. Surprising how quickly you forget all the steps in your process, almost entirely forgot imPPG! Suspect this will be my last solar session for 2015 based on the forecast so I will probably have forgotten again by the next opportunity.
