Kielder star camp 2015

I have just returned from the 2015 Kielder star camp. I only stayed Wednesday and Thursday night. What a fantastic time! The weather on the nights I was there was incredible, so clear. I saw loads of things in the sky that I hadn't seen before. It was also great just to talk telescopes with like minded people who wanted to listen and talk to me (unlike the wife!). Will definitely be going to the next one and will try to attend other star camps elsewhere.

When the weather at Kielder is good it very good, when its bad it can be awful, I was there Friday and Saturday nights. Friday was a total cloud out but Saturday started reasonable and got better and better, finally crawled to bed at 3.45am. I have been to most Kielder camps and this has been one of the better ones for observing.

I too went to Kielder Friday/Saturday, it was my first dark site and I was totally in awe of the milky way. I also found the organisers - Lynn Henderson & co to be really friendly and helpful. A big thumbs up from me, and I will return next March.

I'd agree that this was one of the better ones for clear skies - saw stars every night Wed-Sat, often with long clear spells. No rain to talk of and, as usual, lots of friendly people to discuss astro with, plus interesting talks on the Saturday afternoon.

Thanks again to Lynn and the team for arranging this.

I'll be back! Have any dates been set for Kielder Spring?

I was there from Thursday to Sunday, the weather was, by Kielder standards, semi-tropical and the clear skies were most welcome and the skies really are dark!!

I've posted some (nighttime) pics here: http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/255297-some-wide-field-shots-from-the-kielder-star-party-oct-2015/

As always may thanks to the organisers, Kev, Lynn, Dave, and Richard :)
