Hi

I've just about convinced my self to get a Skywatcher EQ5 Pro go to mount with syncscan.  Would I need another polariscope or will the one that I have for my current EQ2-3 mount be suitable.  

On another topic completely, is there any software that I can use with my macbook pro to guide the scope or is that yet another level.

Hi There

as far as I know I think the polarscope fits from your EQ3-2, but i'm sure someone with greater understanding will be along to confirm this, unfortunately no idea about Mac software but I think there a few here that do will point you in the right direction

If its guiding software you are after then I use PHD 2 on my Mac with my HEQ5 Pro.

I think you will find it has a polarscope fitted. Mine is 18 months old and came with polarscope.

There is software built into the handset that allows Polar Alignment through a Finder scope,CCD, Eye Piece, saves getting on your knee's i use a Telrad and the PHD screen and my CCD as there all aligned......

Yep, the mount comes with a polarscope already fitted

......can I ask, whats the difference between NEQ and HEQ, its the letters N & H I'm trying to fathom? I think H is for 'HEAVY' maybe!

"H" is the heavy duty EQ5. The NEQ6 had an older version - I believe the "N" was the "n"ewer upgraded version at the time - it had Synscan added and a few other bits like weight bar extension and upgraded power plug etc.
