Name that Messier object / NGC (no prizes)

I uploaded your file and it says M23.

It's really handy for proving you pointed the scope in the right place when your DSO doesn't show up :-(

I'd call it initiative. Unfortunately I find it about 50/50 whether my images plate solve or not, for reasons I've never been able to get to the bottom of.

Yup, I reckon this is M23 also designated NGC 6494  - too low in the sky for me to observe it at home though!

Me too, this was between trees trying to find the right spot to get Pluto when it appeared briefly.

it happened to me when i placed the camera in an unusual  angle, then i rotated the image and it plate solved almost instantly.
