I had to go to the Docs first thing this am but took a quick look at the Sun first and wow, what a beautiful prom.  I took the first pic (afocal image with Panasonic compact and digiscoping adapter) at 8.35am, I also attempted a  closer view.  I watched this prom from 8.30am until 8.40am when I had to rush off.

I arrived back home at 9.20am and rushed out again. The prom had clearly become detached while I was away.  I've added another pic of what was left on the Sun's surface.  I could also see a vertical pillar of material away from the Sun, it was very faint and alas I was unable to record it.  It quickly disappeared too.

Very nice images! I think I saw it just before it lifted off, got clouded out for a while then.
