Does anybody know what software they are using for the orion stacked image

I wondered the same !

Normally the Beeb falls over itself to say "go to our web site" at the end (or even in the middle) of every poss. prog. op.

but very slippery over this one ! ?

I too would like to know it certainly would be nice to throw all my pics captured at differing exposures/quality/gradients focal length etc into a bucket and end up with only the best bits  all perfectly stiched together.

The only ref I heard was a comment of Chris Linott saying that the software used was only used for individual stars only and never on wide field (or something similar)

You're right, it was something similar but I dont remember the exact words either, thought at the time that doesnt 'stack up' !

If they are openly sourcing amateur pics should not the software be Open Source, if you see what I mean ?

There was some quality images in that stack they showed. That wasn't 700 iphone pictures!!!!
