Ah, there's a story behind that. The one for sale is actually a spare, won't bore you with the details here, so it's still on an OD base.

They certainly help! I've got a short dovetail between them too and attach a sliding weight to this to give me a bit more control on balance with heavy eyepieces.

The balance on the VX10L is similar actually so I need to come up with a better solution for that. Perhaps some permutation of the sliding bar which is being replaced on the Vixen
