Very interesting. I'm a little confused though because it seems to imply it is relatively easy. There are plenty of very experienced observers on here who have not necessarily found it to be so.

Anyway, a good read so I will give it a go sometime.

This object is a bit of an enigma. Occasionally it's seen with a comparatively small scope not even with a filter. At other times experienced observers using 16, 18 or even 20" scopes and the right filter / eyepiece combinations under dark skies can't see it :undecided:

Yes, it seems really strange doesn't it. I guess it is mainly to do with sky transparency as much as anything?
