  +1 to Dave's comment:

In fact, I think this is the worse seeing I've ever had, and there was a horrible thin misty cloud hanging about all day which completely messed up the contrast.    Below the colour images is a close up of today's  best  stacked result  before tidying up in photoshop. I often get these nasty artifacts when using higher magnifications in poorer conditions, eg wind, but only when using Registax.  Anyone know what causes these?

Still got some good detail, Iain. That misty stuff was killing contrast here too. I am hoping I got a few grabs when it eased off a bit, but I have many more awful grabs!

Nice shots, but don't those artifacts just annoy you! Sometimes if it won't stack any which way, the only place for them is the bin Try using just one alignment point only.

it wasn't much better for visual that day either, well perhaps for 5 mins was all.
