Comet Lovejoy

The last comet I imaged was Holmes way back in 2008 (I think). This image is 10 x 90sec in RGB each and 9x90secs in L giving 58mins 30secs total. The processing was a real challenge. I used a mix of DSS and PixInsight. DSS to calibrate and then the comet alignment tool in PixInsight to sort each channel and combine the channels.

The camera is a QSI683wsg and the scope is a Skywatcher 250px on an EQ6. 3 hours of processing and lots of restarts, phew it's done!

Like the LRGB star trails Sam .. Different  but effective

Still grabbing data on it a the moment trying to get 3 hrs +  in 2 min subs can use them for an anim as well then but have had a handful clouded out
