This an ASCOM driver problem. I occasionally get them. I find the only way to clear them is to reboot the computer. The usually (but not always) works. For more specialist advice try the PHD or ASCOM yahoo newsgroups.

I too turned the laptop on and off and it worked. Weird!

I do a lot of driver development work on ASCOM and must say that stability is never an issue in the platform. There are, however, a large number of drivers out there that leave a bit to be desired. Most likely, your stability problems have been related to the drivers and not ASCOM itself.

I notice that you are still on PHD v1,14 .

May I suggest you upgrade to V2 also which version of ascom are you using?

I used V2 and it didn't work. It said something about star not moving in RA enough, but I tried all sides of the sky
