Storing telescopes in my shed/outhouse

Hello iv recently bought a new house with a outhouse/shed (no leaks in roof) iv always stored my scopes in aluminium cases indoors under the spare bed, I'm just wandering if keeping them outside in the shed in the cold will be ok? They all have aluminium cases.

yes as long as there is no damp
saves on cool down time as well

They'll be fine...after all, most observatories are simply sheds with roofs that come off!

Condensation's the worst culprit from my experience. Ensure the shed is clean, dry, well ventilated and relatively free from critters; I found a dirty great spider's web in my 300p and realised the eyepiece cover was off!

I keep all my equipment in a Metal Shed. I make sure that everything is in a case or covered in Plastic. The problem is if it is Humid outside, it will be humid inside as well!

The real problem is that after use you may end up returning a soggy dew-laiden scope back to your shed, and it is here that you need to take care because you need to actively remove the moisture from the environment (it has nowhere else to go otherwise). I use a de-humidifier in the storage room which quickly dries everything and dumps the water through a tube passing to the outside.

get some large packs of silica gel to go in the boxes to absorb any moisture

I was going to say "look out for the spiders", but was beaten to it.

Instead of taking the silica gel route, make sure there are some air changes in the shed to get rid of condensation.

When I kept mine in an outside shed I covered it with a dust sheet as there always seemed to be bits falling off the roof. My main concern would be security in an outbuilding.
