SynScan Handset V2 burned up gave it 24 volt

I just wanted to ask if someone did the same as me sometime.

I user powersupply to power my heq5 and it was set to 24 volt when i connected it so it just popped and smoke came from the handset

You may have damaged more than the handset. I'm not familiar with the mount but I assume there are more electronics in the mount aswell. Bad luck. Maybe find a way to fix the power supply on 12v to avoid it happening again.

Yikes an expensive mistake!

You can normally tell what has burnt out on a circuit board by the brown mark around it. A test with a multimeter will then confirm it.

If your lucky it's a fuse or resistor that can either be replaced or bypassed to restore functions, if your unlucky it's dead.

Does the mount appear to function ok with no controller attached? (Mine defaults to tracking if turned on without a handset).

The mount is working, i have the other control, not the goto just the syntrek ( is that whats it called ) i used it and could move the mount with it

I can see some brown marks around some component but it looks very hard to replace i will try to ask someone who work with this stuff

They often come up on astrobuy sell for £80-100.

You could see if an electronics expert could repair it. Maybe contact hitecastro people and ask them.
