My Best Saturn So Far!

Here's my best Saturn so far - I've been inspired by the great shots lately so I had another go myself.

now for the stats:

1200 frames with only 250 kept using Registax. Captured with my SPC 900NC and my new Tal X3 Barlow.

That's coming along quite nicely LB. I just zoomed mine up to the same size (also taken with an 8" + new 3x barlow + SPC900NC) and yours is much better. Well done.

Thanks Steve. The image I had on the screen when it was capturing was pretty rubbish, that's why I had to bin so many frames. The detail came out in the processing.

Ahh, the processing - you can fiddle around for hours with that, getting different results each time. :?

You seem to have captured a fair bit of detail in there. Looks like the TAL Barlow will be a worthwhile addition.

Thanks Geoff, I've been quite impressed with the Tal, given it was so cheap, but then I suppose an F6 is quite forgiving. Tried Saturn last night but it was rubbish.

Just caught up with this thread and I do feel that the original looks better than the reworked image. The second image seems to have the appearance of having been over sharpened. If you just apply Auto colour in Photoshop to the paired image I think you will see what I mean. To my eye anyway the top image looks far better.

I agree with CW, the bottom shot looks a bit artificial compared to the more natural look of the top fellah.

It is a very good effort too I might add.

Thanks Ron and CW - it probably is a bit overdone - maybe the wavelets got a bit carried away . I'm just amazed at what can be brought out. I haven't got photoshop so I'm not sure what autocolour is but I like what you have done to the images CW.

Been playing with loads more of the Registax settings to try and tweak a bit more out of that avi.

Registax & wavelets is a huge subject in themselves......

I follow the fiddle around with the wavelets and see if it looks a bit better
