first stack of milky way

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

this is my first attempt to capture and stack the milky way.

i took 25x - 20s pictures based on the 500 rule.

and used 10x - 20s darks too.

Any comments are greatly welcomed.

it was taken with a t5i placed on the virtuoso mount and not attached to a telescope.

ps: i had to resize the image so it could fit the 1mb restriction.

Well done! Right after you finish stacking and the first post stacking thing to do with your image is to crop off those edges here that you can see the stacking remnants from. That will mess up your stretching of the image later. Then use a green eliminator and a gradient exterminator and then stretch it and sweeten to taste. You'll be amazed at the results.

thank you for the reply,

gonna crop it and try your suggestions.

i'm using gimp for my tweaking, and did a quick research for gradient removing and looks like it doesn't have a good way to achieve it.

btw, what is green extermination?

Beautiful pic Atreta, truly a glorious effort!

And you're right Alexxx, skies round here suck sooooo bad.... I've started heading into rural Oxfordshire for darker skies. Not perfect but MUCH better than around here!
