That was very intresting about the Cats Eyes.

An alternative to the glow-in-the-dark road paint currently deployed in the UK is the solar-powered cat’s eye. Usually these road studs rely on reflecting the light from the headlights of a car to light up the road, but this new variety (introduced over the last 7 years in Britain) uses integrated solar panels to absorb light during the day and expel it at night.

Never new about this.

The latest generation of cars with cameras could run without lights.

I can remember when virtually all roads where unlit and it never caused a problem in fact it was a more enjoyable experience no chance of falling asleep at the wheel.

Cars don't just need lights to see road, they need lights to be seen.padesyrians don't tend to have radar ;)

They did a high vis cayseye trial here many years back and it didn't catch on.expense is always a downside.these centre markings as stated would be great in more rural areas but they wouldn't replace street lighting in built up areas due to the security aspect.some people just don't want dark streets on a night.
