Help with ideas for a DIY mount bracket please

Tomorrow I need to see what I can rumage together in order to make a solution to my problem.

I have a Mercury 705 with tube rings I am going to lend to a collegue. There is no tripod with it (I am keeping that) so I need to fashion a mount using what the Mercury comes with (tube rings only no dove bar) so that it can be used on a camera tripod.

Preferably do not want to buy anything.

Does any one have any ideas please?

Can you bolt the tube rings to a strip of wood or a piece of metal like an old ruler then drill a hole in the middle and use a nut to fix to the tripod I think cameras are m8 fixings can't be shore

The piece of wood is a good suggestion, I think the metal rule would be too thin and springy. Camera attachments are usually 1/4" or 3/8" Whitworth or UNC (same pitch).

Thank you for the ideas, ideally I would use a strip of marine ply, but I do not have any here, and a wing nut.

I will bear the suggestions in mind when I rumage.

When I rebuild the scope I will add a pic but it is a very unexciting solution

This was the solution a very strong bracket with holes drilled large enough to pass a camera thread through it will need some nut or other to clamp.
