well this time next week i will have everything i need to attempt guiding, the last 2 pieces of the puzzle are the GPUSB and a SW 9x50 finder, so i guess i better download PHD and get familiar with it in preperation!

Get the newer version PHD2 it rocks.

As a tip, set the Gamma right over to the right

and the exposer time to 2 secs as a starting point, point at a bright star and then focus

just looking at the list of camera's to connect to PHD2 and i cant see one for the SPC900.....

ive just been messing about with the simulator in PHD2, guiding seems easy, i dont know what all the fuss is about lol very cool the way in gets the star in to the middle, im hoping it will be this easy when i try the real thing next week :D

spc900 might not have enough gain for guiding with phd i'm afraid, unless it's been lx-modded - I can't see any guide stars with mine and my T70 guidescope.  Meade LPI works for me though, and they're cheap on ebay

I used the SPC in a finderguider before getting a QHY5. It worked fine. The finder is around f2 so plenty of aperture.

There is a ring underneath the adjustable lens at the 9x50 with which you can lock the focus. Took me a while...

i cant wait to experiment with my SPC900, ill be getting a QHY5L-ii soon but i still love my trusty SPC900

ive also got a CNC machining company next to my work i might see if they can put a screw in the finder holder to replace the spring loaded thing that holds the finder in place, ive done him enough favors so i dont see why not.....Free of charge hopefully
